Filipe Seguro Paula is a researcher at CEDOC (Chronic Diseases Research Center) in NOVA Medical School (NMS) since 2013, working in the Immune Response and Vascular Disease group. He is a physician in the Systemic Immune-mediated Diseases Unit (UDIMS) and Internal Medicine Department 4 of Fernando Fonseca Hospital (Amadora) since 2011, and in the Intensive Care Unit of José de Almeida Hospital (Cascais) since 2015. He joined NOVA-CRU in 2018 as "Clinical and Scientific Advisor".
He completed his graduation in Medicine in 2003-2009 and has grown closer to basic science research at the Molecular Medicine Institute of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon during that time. During his Internal Medicine residency (2011-2016) at Fernando Fonseca Hospital, he has participated as a co-investigator in several multicentric randomized clinical trials, mainly in autoimmune diseases. He has also been a researcher in several investigator-initiated translational research projects at UDIMS/CEDOC since 2013. He completed the Clinical Scholars Research Program of Harvard Medical School in 2013 and 2014, with extensive training in clinical trial design, methodology, ethics and statistical analysis. He is a specialist in Internal Medicine since 2016. He is a PhD student at NMS since 2015, and an invited lecturer on Angiogenesis and Inflammation in the PhD program at NMS since 2017.
